From this menu scroll down to a file marked usr. There will be an arrow< button next to your user name click that arrow twice. select the detected printer and click forward. Once you have ran all the commands from page 1s tutorial, you will need to go to System>Administration>Printing on your desktop. Don't worry about them, we will clean up later. Before you enter the command tail -n +143 .sh > # you will want to open the lexmark folder on your desktop and drag the file .sh out of the folder and on to the desktop.ĭuring this process my desktop was filled with about 15 or 20 icons. I copied and paste each line one at a time. Now run every command listed in the tutorial. this will add the word Desktop to your prompt. Notice that the D in Desktop is capitalized.

I just got my x1150 to print after a lot of trial and even more error. After countless hours of fun I got Ubuntu to do all I need it to do.for now :D No more singing the Blues, unless I want to do so! :guitar: Best of luck to you all maybe these unconventional instructions will work for some one out there. yeahhhhhhhhhhhh!!! I got my first print, perfect!!! Thank you to all of you for the help specially Black Hole Sun for initiating these instructions. I found a text file to print and set up the printer 600z as default using Openoffice sent the job to the printer. ready for this? Hooray!!! it installed!!! Now the next step was to have the printer print, doooh!! Ok, lets not panic, proceeded to Say a little prayer, crossed my fingers and got on my knees before attempting to print. I installed it using the printer setup and.

I then set out to find the location of the driver that was pretty easy "etc/cups/ppd". I remembered that there was a button that can install driver from printer setup and it had a CD icon. I tried this about three time, when it occurred to me that maybe I can get the printer setup to install the driver. I looked at the printer setup to see if by some miracle the driver would be there, "after all the driver did install". I got nothing!!! Well I did what Black Sun Hole suggested we do and nothing! Could not get it to work.
#Lexmark x9575 wireless setup code#
I got up to code line 12, where the terminal acknowledged that I have installed the driver, hooray!!! But wait! :( The next steps is where it all crapped out again.:lolflag: when I added these code : From there all was smooth sailing, seem like I had found a way to this. Then I used BLACK HOLE SUN'S original codes from line 4 on.
so l just extracted the file on my desktop by double clicking on the downloaded tar.gz file. I could not get passed the first two commands. After several self imposed projects in Ubuntu I decide to try again, I figured I have learned a little and I do mean a little more. After a while I just hoped I could get the printer to work forget the scanner, lol. Well, I would go on to other project and come back to my lexmark from time to time only to be frustrated and look for an alternative printer that might work with Ubuntu. I was able to installed the lexmark 35 driver but that only made my X1150 pass a paper (as if it were GAS! NO PRINTING). I have been trying to install the 600z driver for about 3 month (the time I have been using Ubuntu). I have a Lexmark X1150 :( and I followed instructions steps by Black Hole Sun to a T to no avail. I use XSane but after pressing scan from Xsane it hangs but my printer scanner does move but the program Xsane hangs!!! The printer Lexmark X1185 is printing all right but the scanner does not work. After trying hours of typing and extracting and what not i read your comments and installed the Z600 drivers.
